Chapter 20
They were the Darkstorm Bringers.
All throughout the northern icelands, their names were feared. They brought destruction and terror wherever they went. It didnât matter if they were faced with villages, towns, cities⦠even countries.
They destroyed everything in their path.
One of the major nations of the northern icelands, the Republic of Alyza, had sought to quell the uncontrolled destruction of the Darkstorm Bringers a few years back. And it ended with the total collapse of the country, its Capital City reduced to ash, and the earth salted so that there will never be life growing in that land any longer.
As the Chieftain of the Darkstorm Bringers, Joseph Quintin was proud of the reputation he had built for his tribe. That was right. He considered them to be a tribe, even if others called them mere bandits.
He refuted such a ridiculous term. In fact, if anyone ever called them bandits, heâd have them killed immediately. Because they were much more than that. They were a tribe. A large family of people who were related to each other beyond blood.
They shared the same mindset. The same wild desire to do whatever they wanted, regardless of what the law or the authorities said. And perhaps, individually, they couldnât challenge those powers. But together, they were strong.
After the destruction of the Republic of Alyza, nobody dared oppose them in the northern icelandsâ as they should. However, while Joseph Quintin was proud of what he and his tribe had accomplished, he wanted to set his sights further.
Beyond just the northern icelands.
Joseph wanted the Darkstorm Bringers to spread its name throughout the entire continent. And to do that, he knew he needed to strike one of the major powers of the continent. But that was the problem.
While Joseph was an ambitious man, he was also a smart man. He knew that if he went to the center of the continent and struck either the Kingdom of Viletta, the Empire of Julin, or the Empire of Slya, the others would rush to destroy his tribe. After all, they had active militaries they could mobilize in an instant, and their lands neighbored each other.
And even if they might not have had the best relationship with each other, they all would collaborate because theyâd recognize the threat the Darkstorm Bringers posed. Which was why Joseph had never ventured to the center of the continentâ until now.
Until he was given an offer by a member of the Shadow Crusaders. She approached him a few months ago, promising him that she would ensure heâd be given safe passage through the Empire of Julin so long as he brought destruction to the Kingdom of Viletta.
And the prospect of making a name for himself amongst even the most major powers of the continent drew him into agreeing to this deal.
While he didnât know how she was going to do it, when the time came, she somehow convinced Emperor Lionel Julin to ignore the Darkstorm Bringers as they made their way to the Kingdom of Viletta.
